Every trip to Lourdes with Group 73 is slightly different, due to the children, helpers and themes of the week. However, many of the activities we get up to are the same. Below are the activities we typically enjoyto give you a flavour of a week with 73.....

Travel to Lourdes

titre_index

Our Lourdes pilgrimage begins on Easter Sunday, sometimes very early in the morning. We travel by coach to the airport where we join other HCPT groups on a chartered flight.
On arrival at Tarbes airport our coach is waiting to take us to the Hotel Alba where we check in and have our first meal.

The group''s last visit to the grotto

Visits to the Grotto

Our week in Lourdes is vey busy and filled with fun but there are also quieter times in which to reflect. The grotto is the place where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette and we touch the smooth rock and see the spring as we walk through it. We also light candles and say a prayer for the group and for people back home.

Welsh regional Party

On Monday afternoon we invite all the other welsh regions to our hotel for a welcome party. There are party games, drinks and dancing to while away the afternoon

Torchlight procession

On Tuesday evening we join the rest of the trust for the nightly torchlight procession. This is the night when HCPT lead the event each person holding a candle (or glow stick!) as we walk in procession as Mary asked us to.

Our group photo

At some point in the week we arrange for a professional photographer to take a photo of the whole group in front of the main basilica, all decked out in our finest complete with cowboy hats! Every group member then has a copy of this photo to take home as a memento of their holiday and all the friends they made

Group 73 in the mountains

On Friday we catch a coach to Gavarnie, a small village in the pyrenees. The views are always spectacular! Depending on the time of year there may be snow or brilliant sunshine. We may enjoy a snowball fight, build snow men ( well snow telly tubbies!) , have an outdoor mass or go horse-riding.
